Sustainability is a core component in our selection process and the support we provide our portfolio companies.
We are very concerned about the planet we live on, the world we live in and our inability to resolve the very fundamental problems we are facing.
We get even more concerned knowing that even a strict financial business case to take the world into an environmentally sustainable position ends on a plus. Some measures will have immediate positive results, other will cost, but the sum of all will be positive. So why has it not happened already? One big reason is legacy, preserving what we have rather than embracing the new; not daring to take the costs of quitting the ‘old way’, even if the benefits of the ‘new way’ are much greater.
So for us, supporting and investing in new things, helping revolutionary entrepreneurs bring new and better ways of doing things, replacing what is there today, are all key expressions of sustainability.
