Few of Spintop Ventures’ portfolio companies date back to the 1990s, but SaaS company Reclaimit, founded in northern Sweden, is an exception. Initially focused on a different business, Reclaimit transformed into a software company and has become a key partner for e-commerce brands and retailers, helping them manage the post-purchase experience with solutions for returns, repairs, recommerce, and reclaims.
The company has been growing steadily, with its headquarters still in the small town of Piteå. Since 2019, Wilhelm Hamilton has served as Reclaimit’s CEO, bringing his experience from Klarna with the ambition to accelerate growth. He is particularly optimistic about the future of e-commerce, where the post-purchase process remains a largely untapped opportunity. He emphasizes the importance of functioning circular business models, which are becoming increasingly essential.
”When I started, Reclaimit was primarily focused on repairs. Then, the focus shifted—we concentrated on serving e-commerce, and returns became the priority. But now, we’ve realized that all these processes are interconnected and equally important for our customers, regardless of their industry. This unlocks a range of exciting new business models,” explains Wilhelm Hamilton.
Reclaimit’s journey began with founders Håkan and Jörgen, who operated a chain of electronics repair shops in northern Sweden. They developed a software solution to organize their work, which became the foundation of Reclaimit. In 2001, they launched a case management system, setting the stage for the company’s evolution into a SaaS leader.
”Reclaimit is an all-in-one post-purchase experience platform with solutions for digital and automated returns, sustainable repairs and warranty management, circular recommerce solutions, and streamlined supplier claims management. Our customers use these services in different ways. For instance, if you’re selling workout tights, you might focus primarily on efficient returns and exchanges. On the other hand, if you’re in the baby products sector, recommerce solutions might be a bigger priority,” says Wilhelm Hamilton.
Retailers Are Leaving Money on the Table
Reclaimit joined the Spintop Ventures portfolio a decade ago when its founders launched their first platform for handling returns. Today, the company collaborates with over 600 retailers and suppliers, offering solutions that help retailers take control of the post-purchase journey and grow with circular business models.
”Many customers are already buying and selling reused products, but too many retailers leave money on the table by outsourcing parts of the process to third parties. By doing so, they’re effectively giving away the entire reuse business. Instead, retailers could bring this in-house, integrating it into their platforms to create a seamless shopping experience. It’s not just about extending product lifecycles; it’s also a powerful way to build stronger customer relationships—encouraging repeat purchases,” Wilhelm Hamilton explains.
New EU Requirements: Right to Repair
Repairs represent another significant opportunity for retailers. In the coming years, all EU member states will implement the Right to Repair Act into national law, making it mandatory for businesses to offer repair services to customers.
”As a consumer, you’ll have the right to request a repair from anyone in the value chain. It will no longer be acceptable to push the responsibility back to manufacturers, saying, ’It’s up to you to fix it.’ Meanwhile, manufacturers must ensure spare parts, manuals, and repair-friendly designs—electronics that can be disassembled instead of glued together. Reclaimit is already equipped to help businesses adapt to these requirements,” says Wilhelm Hamilton.
Reclaimit has integrated over 250 connected authorized service workshops, providing solutions to streamline repairs and warranty processes with automated workflows.
