Following the success of the first two funds, Spintop Ventures is pleased about the support from the Swedish Venture Initiative, managed by the European Investment Fund, EIF, and Saminvest that have announced major investments in Spintop’s new fund.

“We look forward to continue to pursue Spintop’s proven investment strategy focused on early stage technology companies where Spintop takes the role of a long-term partner to the founder teams, employees and fellow investors. Spintop have a good coverage and an established dealflow throughout the Nordic region from the team and supported by Spintop’s network of successful entrepreneurs and executives from the tech sector.” says Finn Persson, Partner and co-founder of Spintop. “Further, Partner and co-founder Erik Wenngren has an extensive contact network in the tech investment community in London and continental Europe that is an important resource for Spintop companies expanding into international markets.”

”The Swedish Venture Initiative, managed by the European Investment Fund, EIF, will help Spintop to scale up a proven model by matching private capital from current and new investors. With this increase in capital, Spintop will become a stable and lasting venture capital firm based in Sweden.”

”Saminvest with a national fund-in-fund investment mandate will be an important addition to the Swedish venture investment landscape. We have a very positive experience of Saminvest from the evaluation phase and we believe that Saminvest’s experienced management team can provide important support to Spintop in meeting the requirements from institutional investors.”

Spintop Ventures has also grown the team with the new Partners Sami Niemi and Peter Carlsson. Sami has an entrepreneurial background as co-founder and CTO/CPO of Scalado from inception all the way to a successful trade sale to Nokia/Microsoft where he became the global head of imaging products at Microsoft. Peter Carlsson was until last year a longstanding and successful CEO of PriceRunner. Sami and Peter bring new expertise as well as many years of experience from different parts of the tech sector, complementing the other Spintop Partners. Both Peter and Sami have had senior management positions at large technology and internet companies and as a result have built extensive international contact networks of unique value to Spintop and the portfolio companies.

“I have worked with the Spintop team for a long time, first as an investor and then becoming an external member of the investment committee and I look forward to take on a Partner role” says Sami Niemi. ”I am based in the south of Sweden and I have seen that my contacts among tech entrepreneurs is a good complement to Spintop’s existing network. Further, I have during many years built an extensive contact network in the technology sector in the other Nordic countries, Europe and on the US west coast that I find highly valuable.
